The journey
How a journey runs,
Written plainly, so that you always know what comes next.
Five steps, in order
The first conversation
First, you talk with Ansh Lakhanpaul, in person or on the line, and never with a list. He asks about you, your history and your limits. If you say something must happen, it will, and the journey is written around it. You name a figure, and the journey is written to it, so that nothing is guessed. The house writes journeys from thirty lakh rupees. The conversation costs nothing.
- The listening hour
- An hour about you, and never about a place.
- Costs
- Nothing.
- Journeys begin at
- Thirty lakh rupees, including taxes.
- Settled here
- The figure, named by you.
The design fee
Once the conversation is done and before a word is written, the house asks for the design fee: three lakh rupees. It buys the writing of one journey to your figure, one round of revision, and the Edition: your journey, told as a story before it happens, in your own names. One edition. Yours.
The Edition is yours whether or not you travel. If you travel, the fee is credited against the journey. If the figure changes, that is new work, and the house says so before it begins.
Photograph · The Edition - The fee
- Three lakh rupees, before the writing.
- You receive
- The Edition. Yours, either way.
- If you travel
- Credited against the journey.
The writing
Then your journey is written, one day at a time, with a reason for each. Every decision about what happens comes back to you. It takes a week from the design fee to the Edition in your hands, and it is not hurried. Once the Edition reaches you, forty percent of the figure is due within the week. That part is not returned.
- The Edition
- In your hands within a week.
- Revisions
- One round, included.
- Due
- Forty percent, within a week of the Edition.
The journey
The person who wrote your journey stays on the line from the first morning to the last. Each morning, a few lines on the day that is coming reach the line kept for you. Never a car, never a time. Somewhere in the days, one thing happens that is in no edition. Discretion is the default, and always your choice.
- Due, ninety days before
- The remaining sixty percent, or sooner if the journey is.
- Unhurried days
- Every queue, every wait, every form, gone before you reach it.
- First light
- A few lines each morning, for that day and no other.
- The unannounced
- One thing in the days that was on no page.
- The last day
- Kept still.
After the return
Weeks after you are home, the journey comes back to you for the shelf, in a form agreed with you. Over the years, the shelf becomes your family's archive. And a year to the day, a single line: a year ago today, you stood here.
- The keeping
- Weeks after you are home, in a form agreed with you.
- A year to the day
- Something arrives from where you stood. Nothing is asked of you.
- Costs
- Nothing. It is part of the journey.
What it costs,
What the figure includes
Everything on the pages of the Edition: where you stay, how you move between the days, the people who meet you, the table, the unannounced. Nothing is added afterwards that was not agreed.
What it does not
Flights to the first morning and home, insurance, and anything you choose to add on the days. The house says so in the first conversation, so nothing is guessed.

When it is paid
The design fee, three lakh rupees, before the writing. Forty percent of the figure within a week of the Edition reaching you. The remaining sixty percent ninety days before departure, or sooner if the journey begins sooner.
If you do not travel
The design fee is not returned, and the Edition is yours. The forty percent is not returned. The sixty percent is returned in full until the day it is due, and after that as the house's partners allow. The rest is in the Terms, written the same way.
A journey should end in stillness,
Every Narada journey keeps its last day still, so that what was felt has time to settle before the return. Most journeys end in exhaustion. This one ends in place.
